How
to Apply for Graduation |
Prior to applying
for graduation, please consult with an academic advisor to verify
that you are eligible. Prospective graduates should fill out the
student information of the Graduation Application and the Required
TTI Survey. A $20 processing fee is required for
each degree you are applying for. Please be aware of the following
deadlines that apply for graduation applicants:

Graduation applications
are processed each semester. Diplomas are mailed to graduates after
final grades are reviewed and graduation requirements are verified
as completed. Students failing to complete graduation requirements
by the end of the semester for which they have applied must reapply
for graduation and repay the fee. Applicants for graduation who
owe money to UVSC will not receive their diplomas until all debts
are paid.

Commencement
 |
Commencement
is the main ceremony where all graduates will meet together to participate
in the formal processional. The President of UVSC, Honorary Degree
recipient(s), and a Valedictorian will speak. The official bestowing
of degrees will also take place.
Commencement exercises are held at the end of Spring Semester (April).
Students who have graduated any semester of the current school year
are invited to participate. Attendance is desirable but not mandatory.
All students wishing to participate in the commencement exercises
must register/reserve a seat to participate with the Graduation
Office. Filling out a Graduation Application does not register a
student to participate in the ceremonies.
Convocation |
UVSC is divided into eight schools. Students are
assigned to a school according to their major. Each school holds
their own ceremony which is called a convocation. During the convocation,
the students will be recognized individually. A representative of
the school will read each student's name as they walk across the
stage and are handed a congratulatory letter. Convocations are held
at the end of Spring Semester. Students who have graduated any semester
of the current school year are invited to participate. Attendance
is desirable but not mandatory. All students wishing to participate
in a convocation must register/reserve a seat to participate with
the Graduation Office. Filling out a Graduation Application does
not register a student to participate in the ceremonies.
Diplomas
 |
All diplomas
are mailed to the graduate at the "diploma mailing address"
as indicated on the student's graduation application. The diplomas
are mailed approximately four to six weeks after the student graduates.
If your address changes, be sure to contact the Graduation
Office.
Valedictorians |
Each of the Schools of the College will select a
Valedictorian. Approved guidelines will provide the framework for
the process of selecting Valedictorians. Schools with Bachelor's
degrees will select a Valedictorian for both Associate degree graduates
and one for Bachelor's degree students. One of the Valedictorians
selected will speak in the Commencement Ceremony.

UVSC contracts with an outside company for students
desiring to purchase graduation announcements. Graduation announcement

vary. You may puchase graduation announcements even if you are not
planning to attend the Commencement Exercises.
